OTTAWA — The Conservative Party is willing to work with other opposition legislators to set the terms of reference for a possible inquiry on foreign interference. Party Leader Pierre Poilievre says he will reach out to the New Democrats and Bloc Quebecois next week and begin the work. The Liberal government says it is willing to hold a public inquiry on allegations that China meddled in two recent federal elections, but it wants the opposition parties to come up with its terms of reference, timeline and potential leader. The government is undertaking work to find possible gaps in how it handles allegations of foreign interference, and initially appointed former governor general David Johnston as a special rapporteur to probe the issue. But Johnston resigned from the role on Friday, citing the highly partisan atmosphere around his work.Poilievre says he wants the government to call a public inquiry quickly, and before the next federal election. (NEXSTAR) – S’mores — the official treat of people who enjoy having sticky hands — have existed in some form or another for over a hundred years. But the name “s’more”? That came about decades later. One of the earliest known recipes for the s’more was published around 1920, in a cookbook commissioned by the Campfire Marshmallow Company. Much like today’s s’more, the treat consisted of chocolate and toasted marshmallow sandwiched between two graham crackers — but it went by a different and arguably more accurate name: the “Campfire Graham Cracker Sandwich.” What does 'Oreo' mean? It might be a dig at a cookie competitor, according to an expert Even then, the authors of the recipe noted that the toasty treats were already “especially” enjoyed by Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. But the latter began calling them by a different name by 1925, as evidenced articles published by newspapers in Alabama, Connecticut and Tennessee, all of which reported on Girl Scout leaders who sampled the sweet ...Long-lasting heat wave continues with no relief in sight

Luke Ryerse is a star, uhh, well, everything for East Ridge’s state tournament-bound baseball team. The position he plays very much depends on the day.“He’s played two outfield positions, he’s played third base, he’s played first base, he’s pitched,” Raptors coach Brian Sprout said. That’s it? Anything else?“We even talked to him about catching a little bit and he’s started working on that,” Sprout said. “We haven’t done it. He’s got some catching in his background, so he’s capable of it.”Add it to the list.Sprout knew of Ryerse, a sophomore, and his potential as he watched him rise through the youth ranks. What always remains to be seen, though, is where and how a player will slot into a varsity lineup when the time comes. But Sprout quickly learned during Ryerse’s freshman season that the answer to that question was “anywhere that’s required.”“That’s the great thing about the flexibility is we can write a lineup and fit him in somewhere, knowing that he’ll be comfortable,” Sprout sa...Latest news
