The Gophers football program addressed its biggest roster need on Saturday. Elon transfer cornerback Tre’Von Jones committed to Minnesota.Listed at 6 feet and 173 pounds, Jones de-commited from James Madison on Friday.“Let’s work!! #RowTheBoat,” Jones wrote on Twitter.The Warrenton, N.C. native had 29 total tackles, four pass breakups, one sack, one fumble recovery, one tackle for lost yards and no interceptions in 11 games mostly at the Football Championship Subdivision level in 2022. He has 136 tackles, 15 pass breakups, five fumble recoveries and three interceptions in 38 career games.The Gophers often looks to how small-school players perform against Power Five competition. Last season, Jones had two tackles, a pass breakup and and five punt returns for 71 yards, including a 34-yarder.Jones, who has one season of eligibility remaining, helps a position group which had only four scholarship players during spring practice. MALDEN BRIDGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A church bell has reportedly been stolen from the outside of the Malden Bridge Community Center in Columbia County. Lucinda Buckley, President of the Center, said the bell went missing between 7 p.m. on April 24 and 7 a.m. on April 25. It stands 4 feet tall, 3 feet wide and weighs 1,248 pounds. The 145 year old bronze bell has all the pastor and trustees names marked on it, said Buckley. The names include Starks, Wilbor, Wait, VanAlstyn, Mickle, and Thorn.Buckley said the bell has an attached MeNeely and Kimberly Yoke. The A-frame for the bell was left behind at the community center. TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Crews are continuing to battle a house fire on Madison Avenue in Troy. According to the Troy Fire Chief, the fire started in the attic. ST. LOUIS -- A homicide at Maplewood-Manchester Metrolink around 10:30 a.m. has the MetroLink trains are not running between the Shrewsbury-Lansdowne I-44 and Brentwood I-64 stations. MetroLink Station Buses are providing bus transportation between the Shrewsbury, Sunnen, Maplewood-Manchester, and Brentwood I-64 Stations. Riders should be prepared for delays of up to 60 minutes.
