Most stocks closed lower Monday as the constrictor of higher interest rates tightened its coils around Wall Street. Slumps for oil-and-gas stocks weighed on the market after crude prices gave back some of the sharp gains made since the summer. More than three out of four stocks within the S&P 500 fell alongside them, but gains for Apple and other influential Big Tech stocks helped to support indexes. DENVER (KDVR) -- Denver said Monday that it was experiencing an "unprecedented increase" in migrant arrivals, with an average of 300 migrants arriving every day. This was up from the 125 arrivals seen daily in mid-September.The reported increase came days after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that the state had sent over 2,400 migrants to Denver since May 18, when 41 migrants were dropped off at Civic Center Park.Nine buses arrived from Texas on Sunday alone, according to the city. However, this was not explicitly part of the state's busing program. With the investigation stalling, police have released a video of a dangerous drive in Northwest Miami-Dade.A surveillance camera caught a U-haul pickup truck driving by a group of friends, when someone inside opened fire, hitting one man in the head.Another man in the group shot at the truck.The 30-year-old victim was rushed to the hospital and has had to undergo months of rehab.The incident occurred in a neighborhood along Northwest 51st Street and 31st Avenue in Northwest Miami-Dade in April.Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call police immediately.MDPD officer’s cruiser crashes in SW Miami-Dade; no injuries reported

A Miami-Dade Police officer’s cruiser crashed in Southwest Miami-Dade.The vehicle crash happened on the State Road 874 Ramp to Southwest 152nd Street, Monday afternoon.7Skyforce hovered over the scene where several officers surrounded the cruiser. According to MDPD, the officer was en route to assist another unit when their vehicle slammed into the wall. No injuries were reported. The exit lane has been blocked until tow trucks remove the cruiser. Jury selection got underway Monday for the trial of a 27-year-old man accused of murdering a New Hampshire couple on a hiking trail in April of last year. Authorities said Stephen and Wendy Reid were shot and killed while out for a walk near their home. Their bodies were later discovered near a hiking trail three days after they were reported missing. Logan Clegg was arrested after a monthslong manhunt in South Burlington, Vermont in October and subsequently charged with several charges including second degree murder.
