One person was killed after a suspect opened fire on a street in South Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon.During a dispute, the suspect, only identified as a male, “produced a handgun and proceeded to murder the other,” said Los Angeles police.The suspect then attempted to carjack several vehicles in the Vermont Square neighborhood near Normandie Avenue and 49th Street, authorities said.He continued walking southbound on Normandie Avenue where he shot at a bystander. Health officials are warning of an outbreak of hepatitis A infections linked to frozen strawberries sold in stores across Los Angeles County.The outbreak was recently identified by the Los Angeles County of Department of Public Health.Several brands of frozen strawberries potentially affected have been recalled by the Food and Drug Administration.The FDA said the organic frozen strawberries were imported by a “common supplier from certain farms located in Baja California, Mexico.”The strawberries were sold under a variety of labels including Kirkland Signature (Costco), Trader Joe's, Simply Nature, Vital Choice, Made With, and PCC Community Markets.Consumers are advised to review the lot numbers or universal product codes (UPC) on their products to determine whether their strawberries were affected.Affected brands and UPC codes to look for:“Hepatitis A is a contagious liver infection and is spread when someone ingests the virus, usually through close personal contact with an infecte...Two teens arrested in fatal Metro stabbing in Long Beach

Two teenagers from Long Beach have been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a Los Angeles man that took place on Wednesday. The victim, identified by authorities as 25-year-old Luis Fernando Polita of Los Angeles, was stabbed to death aboard a Metro Blue Line train around 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of East 1st Street. Detectives were able to determine that Polita boarded the Metro Rail outside of Long Beach, and that the male suspects entered the train sometime after it crossed into Long Beach. “During the assault, one of the suspects produced a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times which ultimately resulted in the victim’s death,” the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement.
