A lot has changed since my childhood. The freedoms I enjoy today were once a dream for which my parents and grandparents longed. Yet the values that made our families strong and state government even stronger have been sidelined for “my way or the highway” mentalities that hurt the people they’re meant to protect. As lawmakers debate tax-and-spend legislation worth billions, they need to remember this: For a better Minnesota, we need to go back to our fundamental values.Democrats are currently sitting on an $18 billion surplus – also known as our hard-earned tax dollars. If you’re waiting for a punchline, there isn’t one. It’s hard to fathom how much bigger the government can get, but Democr...Kingston declares snow emergency

Adults need to take student safety seriously, finallyWhen will adults take student safety seriously? My friend Luis Garcia lived with integrity. He always worked to be the best version of himself.Today, adults talk about safer schools and ending gun violence. Their words are seemingly filled with authority and integrity. Yet the best versions of these officials can be found in their talking points in the news and social media. Unfortunately, their words have no impact. At the beginning of this school year, police entered our school with semi-automatic weapons during an active shooter threat. With guns pointed at us, we evacuated and stood on the hot football field. As kids were crying and collapsing, I watched a school board member hand out water to onlookers across the street. He turned his back on traumatized kids while performing virtuous acts for adults. Our school had another lockdown a few days after my friend Luis was shot. A normalized event, but I no longer felt normal. Overwh...Broncos free agency tracker: Denver agrees to terms with OL Ben Powers on four-year deal

Deals can be formalized once the new league year starts. The Broncos have plenty of work to do, with 17 unrestricted free agents set to hit the market and a trio of veterans released Friday to create cap space.Denver enters free agency with, according to Over the Cap data, around $32.56 million in salary cap space to work with. That’s seventh-most in the NFL. When taking into consideration the small pool the Broncos will likely need to sign a draft class devoid of picks in the first two rounds, only Chicago, Atlanta and Las Vegas enter free agency with more room to work with than George Paton, Sean Payton and the Broncos’ front office.Follow along with this updatin...Latest news
