KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — At least three civilians were killed and others wounded in Ukraine on Friday and Saturday, as Russian forces continued to shell areas across the country and pushed forward near an embattled eastern city, local Ukrainian officials reported Saturday. A man died as Russian forces shelled the Ukrainian-held town of Nikopol from their stronghold at Ukraine’s largest nuclear plant, according to Ukrainian local Gov. Serhii Lysak. Lysak said that emergency services in Nikopol were working to assess the damage. Russian troops took over the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant early in the war, sparking intermittent fears of a radiation incident as shelling persisted near the site, often targeting Ukrainian-controlled settlements across the Dnieper River. In Kryvyi Rih, the central Ukraine hometown of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, , a 60-year-old man died on Friday evening when a Russian missile slammed into an industrial facility, according to Telegram posts by Mayor ...Kalajdzic scores late as Wolves win 2-1 at Bournemouth with coach Gary O’Neil back at former club

BOURNEMOUTH, England (AP) — Sasa Kalajdzic scored a late winner as Wolverhampton fought back to win 2-1 at 10-man Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday in coach Gary O’Neil’s first trip back to his former side.Dominic Solanke gave the home fans hope of a first win of the season when he fired his team in front in the first half but Matheus Cunha leveled two minutes after the break and the afternoon further unraveled for Bournemouth when Lewis Cook was sent off for a head butt on Hwang Hee-chan .Bournemouth had its chances and managed to keep things level until deep into the second period, but the late drama left the Cherries mired in an abysmal start to their campaign. It was O’Neil’s first match at Bournemouth since he was fired in June despite leading the team to Premier League survival last season. Both goalkeepers were tested early and Wolves midfielder Pedro Neto almost marked his 100th Premier League appearance with a goal but his strike cannoned off the crossbar.Wi...Estrella Damm N.A. The investigation into the damaged gas pipeline connecting Finland to the rest of Europe is focusing on the role of a Chinese ship, the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation said late Friday.“The movements of the vessel Newnew Polar Bear flying the flag of Hong Kong coincide with the time and place of the gas pipeline damage,” the investigators said in a statement. “For this reason, the investigation is now focused on the role of the said vessel.”The 77-kilometer Balticconnector pipeline, which is key to ensure Finland’s energy security, was switched off last week after the Finnish gas grid’s operator Gasgrid reported that it was leaking.Finnish officials quickly pointed out that the pipes could have been sabotaged, with Prime Minister Petteri Orpo saying the leak was “not exactly the act of an ordinary person.”The incident comes as European countries are increasingly concerned about the vulnerabilities of their energy infrastructure ahead of w...Biden says Hamas attacks aimed to halt Israel-Saudi accord

U.S. President Joe Biden said that Hamas’ attacks on Israel were intended in part to scuttle the potential normalization of the U.S. ally’s relations with Saudi Arabia.“One of the reasons Hamas moved on Israel … they knew that I was about to sit down with the Saudis,” Biden said at a campaign event Friday night, according to pool reports. “Guess what? The Saudis wanted to recognize Israel,” the president added.Less than a month ago, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had also expressed optimism about the potential detente, telling Biden that a “historic peace” between the two countries seemed attainable. The normalization push began under former President Donald Trump’s administration and was branded as the Abraham Accords. But Hamas’ brutal Oct. 7 attack on Israel and sustained retaliation from the Israeli Defense Forces in Gaza have pushed the possibility of normalization between Israel and neighboring Arab countries farther from reach. On Saturday, the first 20 trucks ca...Free fall festivals in San Diego this month
